Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter

Polarizers are great for saturating an image and adding contrast to the sky. It can also nearly eliminate reflections from reflective surfaces even if the light source is a flash.

This moderately priced (not the cheapest but not the most expensive) second version of the Nikon circular polarizer (CPL) is a huge improvement over the fat/thick earlier one. It is much slimmer and lighter now fitting well in a filter case with other slim filters. Also, its diameter is not greater than other, ordinary filters like the first version was. This high quality Nikkor glass CPL has multi-coating.

This circular polarizer can get some dark, midnight-blue skies when the sun is at the right angle. There is no post-processing applied here.

It is hard to tell but it seems the Nikon Circular Polarizer II does add a slight warm cast to the image. If not at all, it is very slight. Otherwise, the filter is sharp taking nothing away from the Nikkor experience.

Conclusion

It is hard to find fault with this filter. It is very well made and a bargain considering the caliber at hand.
