Sirui K-20X Tripod Ball Head
The K-20X is a ball head with quick release mechanism from Sirui, a Chinese company. It weighs 13.4 oz. and accepts a 55 lb. load.
The ball head adjustment knob has a lot of turn in it between locked and totally loose. This allows for very fine control making it possible to easily find a middle ground where the ball is locked but allows for some movement when forced.
The quick release is Arca-Swiss compatible, and it has a safety button that prevents the quick release plate from slipping out accidentally. When the quick release plate slides into place there is a click signaling that it is locked on, but the plate still needs to be tightened down for good operation. So to remove the quick-release plate, it must be loosened an then the red release button should be pressed. Only then does the quick release plate slide out.
This head accommodates longer arca-swiss plates auch as an L-bracket, like the SIRUI TY-Z6L or Really Right Stuff ones.
To rotate the head, loosen the small black knob at the base. This knob does not tighten enough to prevent the unit from turning. It just makes it harder to turn.
Overall, this is a very nice piece of equipment that exudes quality. It probably should be more expensive than it is.
