Nikon TC-300 Ai Teleconverter

This 2× teleconverter works with a variety of Nikkor telephoto lenses usually f=300mm and greater, both Ai/Ai-S and AF/AF-I/AF-S. It loses two stops of light when mounted to a lens. Its lens construction is 5 elements in 5 groups.

This teleconverter is prized because it can accept a teleconverter with a protruding front element, such as the TC-14 or TC-14B. It cannot take another TC-300 mounted to it, but wouldn't that be fun.

This teleconverter can mount on many lenses as long as there is approximately 23mm of clearance, so some lenses will require an extension tube be mounted.

This teleconverter and the TC-301 are quite long, introducing a lot to the focusing distance if doing macro photography, for example. Using an extension tube with a tripod mount is useful. One such extension tube is the Nikon PN-11.

When it comes to use on DSLR cameras, this teleconverter is otherwise identical to the TC-301.

Introduced in 1977 and discontinued in 1984, approximately 10,000 units were produced.
